Barbara and Gabriel made our dream come true. As Brazilian wedding photographers, we always dreamed of shooting a destination wedding abroad, and we never expected the first time would take us all the way to Central America, to Costa Rica. But before we get to the destination, we need to talk about them, because this story starts long before we ever got on that plane.
It all began when Bá stumbled upon one of our Valentine's Day promotions on Instagram, and from there, an online conversation turned into something much bigger. They originally planned to get married here in Ribeirão Preto, but as time went on and plans evolved, we followed along every step of the way, until they landed on the idea that felt most like them: an intimate elopement wedding at sunset.
Barbara carries a very special relationship with photography. Her father, who passed away, was a documentary photographer. So when she and Gabriel set out to choose who would tell the story of their wedding day, it was never really about aesthetics or Instagram feeds. It was about feeling, connection, and something deeper. Being chosen for that reason meant everything to us.
Their elopement was exactly what it should be: just the two of them. No guest list, no officiant, no traditional ceremony. Just Bá and Gabriel, their words, and the Pacific Ocean as their witness.
The day started at their hotel, where they got ready together in the same room a little unconventional, and absolutely lovely to photograph. Finding flowers for the bouquet turned into quite the adventure, but it came together beautifully, with Gabriel himself assembling it during the getting ready. He slipped out just before the big reveal so Barbara could put on her dress and see everything come together at the spot they had chosen for their vows.
That spot was Playa Langosta, a rocky beach near the well-known Tamarindo, in the Guanacaste region, one of the most beautiful settings for an elopement wedding in Costa Rica. At low tide, with the late afternoon light painting everything gold, it was breathtaking. As we always do, we stayed out of the way during the ceremony itself, having already scouted the perfect position to let the moment unfold naturally. And there, standing among the rocks with the sun melting into the Pacific, they said their vows. It was raw, emotional, and so beautiful to witness through the lens.
After the ceremony, we moved into a post-wedding session that flowed from the rocks down to the sand and straight into the ocean. Easy, playful, and completely them. That is exactly how we love to work as documentary wedding photographers: to be present, connected, and capturing what is real.
Thank you, Barbara and Gabriel, for trusting us with this. And for taking us along on the adventure of a lifetime.
With love, Fer and Gui ♡
